    Hi,

    For Tutorial #1,
I was not sure anyone have post this suggestion already - Check/document user account permissions of  BiztalkServerApplication.

    Details
    1) I was using an admin account when start BiztalkServerApplication and got a warning message which suggested me not to use an admin account.
    2) I create a power user account called 'biztalk'.
    3) This new account does not have permissions to access lots of folders, like log folder, c:tutorial, <server>EDIDocsHomeDocumentsPickupEDI, etc.
    4) This was why when I enabled Receive Locations and refresh it again. It went back to disable.
    5) The BPA need to use the targeted user account, like 'biztalk' in my case, to scan the permissions for all required resources. This will save us lots of time...

  1. What forum is available for users sharing how they solved the problems they encountered in the BT 2006 tutorials?  The answer is, there is none.  Lizal's blog is not it; go look at the so-called discussions there.  There is no user discussion.  Msft should have set up a discussion group for the Biztalk tutorial users.
  2. The tutorial 3 still has fatal mistakes even after the small code update that was issued in summer 2006.  One fatal mistake still present:  The word doc for Tutorial 3 makes frequent references to both solution paths, rather than sticking to just one, like it can't make up its mind.  The "B2BSolution" ends up botched because both B2BSolution directories are being worked on during the tutorial.  This leaves both of them in an inconsistent state and the tutorial cannot be completed by the user.  - C:tutorialLessonsB2BSolution  - C:tutorialSolutionsB2BSolution There is no user group to find help to solve this.   I am now forced to abandon this tutorial3.   Moreover, it is possible that the rest of the BT 2006 tutorials from 4, forward, are useless to me if they depend on tutorial3. Msft would have been able to see feedback on these fatal problems with the tutorials, and improve the quality, and users could help each other find workarounds, if Msft had only created a group for the BT 2006 tutorial users in the first place, and direct people there, from all these ancillary BT web sites at microsoft.  One person's blog (lizal in this case) is not a user group forum -- the results speak for themselves. It's not hard to do.  Create a user group immediately and maybe people could work around the problems. The first two tutorials are superb.  The third needs help, even in 2007, and the help is lacking from msft, and also lacking from the user community, which msft could have shepherded by creating a group or forum for the purpose.

Hi, Thanks for providing such detailed feedback. I do want to let you know that we have resources on the tutorial and the issues for tutorial 3 are being identified and fixed. There is support for the tutorials through the newsgroups. Unfortunately there is no dedicated "area" for tutorials. I will pass this information along though. Can you send Liza or myself your e-mail address so one of us can follow up with you directly? Thanks, -luke

Hi guys Are the details of the tutorials finished yet? Couple of things for tutorial 3 is that the web service call does not get made (I have run through the tute 3 times to be sure) and adding a web reference schema in the BRE section does not work
