Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A-A03US Acquired
I picked up a Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A-A03US today. I let my wife hold it briefly and nearly didn't get it back. It would have been fun to have this at Tech Ed USA 2011 last week to show off. It only weighs about 2.8 pounds.
I'm currently creating the factory disk set and will report my thoughts about the machine very soon. When folded this machine feels like a weapon. Impressive design. But it's time to begin some tests to see if it's a keeper or not.

Everyone, I plan to wait until I receive the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 before I publish thoughts on this machine. I have also been in contact with our internal folks that manage the Samsung relationship and have requested a 900X3A evaluation unit that includes the TPM chip. I want to test DirectAccess. I will answer one question now but don't expect a detailed review for at least a couple of weeks. Battery Life - I have run a few tests over the weekend and yesterday. I am seeing 5-6 hours of battery life with a fairly active environment. In the first test, I was using the WIFI network with Outlook and Tweetdeck while watching some movies (SSD based .mp4). Light web browsing thrown in for good measure as well. That test lasted 5 hours. By removing the video playback, the test extends into the 6 hour range. This is pretty good for such a thin machine without the benefit of a bulky battery. More details later.
