Outlook Social Connector for Facebook
The Microsoft Outlook Social Connector Provider for Facebook is now available!
I’ll admit, I am a huge Facebook fan. I have come to use it more than any other social network. That’s why I was excited to see the Outlook Social Connector for Facebook announced. I installed it, and already am seeing all of my contacts light up with Facebook update information. Here is a snapshot of an email from my co-worker and friend, David Jung.
One of my favorite features is something seemingly trivial, pulling a contact’s picture from the social networking site and displaying it. I meet a LOT of people at customer accounts and conferences, I am really good with recognizing faces but horrible with remembering names. Having a face to go with a name is extremely useful.
Notice the Facebook and LinkedIn notifications in the bottom pane of the email window? You wouldn’t believe how helpful this can be. I have started to write emails to contacts, only to see the answer to the email already posted to a social network. I am able to add a personal touch to emails by mentioning recent updates to social networks. I can even see posts that are marked as public for contacts that I am not currently friends with, and I can add them as a friend on that social network through the connector as well.
