Windows Vista Sounds
I thought this was interesting - a Channel 9 video was posted up a few days ago giving an insight into how the startup sound in Windows Vista is being created. It runs for around 25 minutes and shows Robert Fripp in a recording studio at the Microsoft Redmond campus building a series of themes and soundscapes to come up with what ultimately will be condensed into a few seconds making the "Windows Vista Sound". Historically, I've always been one of those people who always wanted to be an early adopter - I remember for example getting hold of a beta of OS/2 Warp 4 and porting the sounds across to OS/2 Version 3, my day-to-day machine at the time. I even remember going through the hurdle of converting those OS/2 Warp 4 "WAV" files into a Windows Sound Scheme on NT4. Oh those were the days....
