Windows 10 latest essential links and updates

This just came today from Gabe Aul so I will share essential extracts:

You can read about these and other updates here

Tips & Tricks

  • Remember, to get the fastest access to Windows 10 Insider Preview builds, you can move to the Fast ring (just note that Fast ring builds typically have more bugs than the Slow ring). To change when and how often preview builds are installed, open Settings>Update & security>Advanced options, and go to Choose how preview builds are installed. And if your machine hasn't been updated from one of our earlier builds (such as 9926), you can download the latest Slow build from the Insider download site. (If you're having troubles with the download, this wiki article provides some helpful tips.)

Info for Developers

  • Get an in-depth look at the Universal Windows Platform with experts Jerry Nixon and Andy Wigley. In their latest Microsoft Virtual Academy course, A Developer's Guide to Windows 10, you'll learn how Windows capabilities and social integration can help you create amazing experiences on devices running Windows 10, including phones, tablets, PCs, and even (coming soon) Xbox! Jerry and Andy offer demo-rich Windows 10 goodness, explore cool new features, and share practical guidance. Each module lasts about 30 minutes (and there are more than 20), so you can check out the topics that interest you most by module. To get started, click here.

Info for IT Pros

  • We are currently offering a Microsoft Virtual Academy training course on Windows 10 management features. The focus is on features that address the mobile workplace, heterogeneous ecosystems, bring your own device (BYOD) and choose your own device (CYOD) scenarios, and the cloud. Look at runtime provisioning, mobile device management (MDM), secure authentication, and much more. Plus, find out what Windows as a Service means for you and your organization. To watch, click here.
  • Recently, we asked several IT Pros what they liked about the Insider Preview. Check out this video as they share their feedback on the Start menu, multi-tasking using virtual desktops, and more.

If you haven't already installed Insider Preview, you can do it here. (If you are an IT pro, Windows 10 Enterprise Insider Preview is here.) This is pre-release software, so check out Before you install to be sure it is right for you. And for phones, get Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview here
