New hard drive price war coming
Seagate, Hitachi and Samsung will compete for more price cuts for harddisks in the near future.
The toughest competition seems to be on the low-end, 80 GB harddisk models. So, what do you think the new non-rebate price would be for, say, 160 GB drives?

80gb is low-end?
On the various deal-sites you will be hard-pressed to find anything below 160.
I have seen 160s go down to as low as $55 after rebates. I just got two HDs for my dad - a 320gb and a 400gb. $72 and $69 respectively (yeah, good deal on the 400gb).
If there's a new war a-brewing.. Man.. 250gb for $50 even?

Maybe 80$ GB harddisks are used in OEM-style prebuilt computers (Dell, HP, etc) although I saw a lot of cheap computers with 160 GB as well.Anonymous
