A keyboard can be connected to a Windows Embedded Compact powered device for a user to provide input in a specific language. By providing a hardware-independent keyboard model, Windows Embedded Compact enables devices to support a variety of keyboards.
The OEM can also support additional keyboard layouts by using Keyboard Layout Generator Tool. Microsoft provides recommended keyboard layouts for many locales and languages at the Go Global Developer Center.
