Enter the general ledger account number. You can enter a maximum of 20 numbers.

This number identifies the account. If you enter this number in the account number field on a journal line, such as when you post the line, it will post to the corresponding account in the G/L Account table.

You can enter account numbers in any order in the G/L Account Card window, these numbers will be ordered automatically. You must enter account numbers in string order in the Chart of Accounts window. The following example shows how the accounts are sorted in string order.

Leave a large gap between account numbers, so that you can insert additional accounts if needed.

Each number must be unique. You cannot use the same account number more than once. You can set up unlimited account numbers.

You cannot fill in the other fields in the G/L Account table until you have entered a number in the account number field.
