Search Description Field, Item Table
Specifies a search description.
You can use the Search Description field to search for a particular item when you cannot remember the item number. It is often easier to remember that the description of the item (which will often be the search description) is Wall Shelves, blue, for example.
You can enter the search description in item number fields on journal lines or purchase or sales lines, and the program will find the correct item number.
When you enter something in the Description field and press ENTER, the program automatically copies the contents to the Search Description field.
The contents of the Search Description field do not need to be the same as those of the Description field. You can enter a search description yourself, using a maximum of 30 characters, both numbers and letters.
Important
If the search description was inserted automatically by the program, it will be changed each time you change the Description field. If you have inserted the search name manually it will not be changed automatically when the Description field is changed.
Tip
For more information on how to work with fields and columns, see Work with Data. For assistance in finding specific pages, see Search.
