To-Production Bin Code Field, Work Center Table
Specifies the bin in the production area where components that are picked for production at this work center are placed by default before they can be consumed. Items that are placed in this bin are typically set up for manual consumption posting. This means that the Flushing Method field contains Manual for basic warehousing or Pick + Forward or Pick + Backward for advanced warehousing.
Additional Information
The value in this field is automatically inserted in the Bin Code field on production order component lines in the following cases:
The location code of the production order component line is the same as on the work center card.
The first relevant production order routing line had an empty To-Production Bin Code field because the work center in question is on another location or does not have a defined to-production bin code.
The flushing method on the production order component line is set to Manual, Pick + Forward, or Pick + Backward.
For an illustration of how components are handled in the Bin Code field on production order component lines, see Filling the Consumption Bin.
Note
The bin code in this field overwrites any bin code that is entered in the To-Production Bin Code field on the location card for the location where this work center is placed.
Bin codes that are set up on work center cards only define a default warehouse flow for certain activities, such as components in a production department. Additional functionality exists to make sure that placing items in a certain bin makes them unavailable to other activities. For more information, see the Dedicated field in the Bins window.
