Reads a stream of bytes into the buffer as an array, starting at a specified offset

Index into the data field from which to begin the read operation.
- buffer

The byte array to be read.
- bufferIndex

Index into the buffer at which to start placing the data.

Returns an integer value specifying the offset at which to begin reading in the byte stream.
