Free Collection of Windows Mobile Security White Papers

Our Device Management and Security (DMSec) team recently produced a series of security booklets. These were very well recieved at the MEDC 2007 event last week. So I'd like to point out that these are also available online. Among the topics you will find:

  • Security Risks in the Mobile Enterprise
  • The Windows Mobile Security Architecture
  • Security Considerations on the Exchange Server
  • Security Considerations within the Corporate Network
  • more...

There are 2 booklets available online:

Security Considerations for Windows Mobile Messaging in the Enterprise

Security Model for Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows Mobile 6

Bookmark these great resources and read them when you want an in depth look at the Windows Mobile security model - either as a developer or an IT administrator.

Could one of your team members post some information regarding upcoming upcoming Group Policy enhancements and enterprise-level management features in WM? My employer (large aerospace firm) will not allow the use of WM devices and claims that the inability to properly regulate the devices via central policy is the problem.  They want to disable the any camera, restrict Bluetooth file transfers, manage WiFi connections, etc.  That said, they allow Blackberry devices and claim they can be centrally managed in an acceptable fashion. Maybe the core of the issue is that the end-user is always an "admin" on WM devices and can circumvent enterprise policy? Can't say for sure, but I hope you can help me escape from RIM...
