This Week: The SQL Server 2008 Jumpstart

I'm spending the week in the SQL Server 2008 Jumpstart event here in Redmond. I'm on the Developer track, which means I get to spend three days listening to the great Bob Beauchemin extoll the virtues of the new programmability constructs in SQL Server 2008.

Today's primary topics were the spatial and filestream datatypes, both of which have the promise to greatly expand the utility of SQL Server in the niches where they're required.

I'll write more when I've had more time to absorb what I'm hearing. This promises to be a very educational week.
