DWWTWT?: September 11
I think my grandson has dumped me.
Last Friday, we were running through our morning routine and we were all a little late; Alex asked, "Grandpa, can I walk to school by myself today?" Well, not walking him to school would save me 20 minutes and I was late, so with minor trepidation, I sent my nine-year-old grandson to walk the half-mile by himself.
He arrived safely and all was well with the world.
This morning, we were on-time and ready, and he said, "Grandpa, can I walk by myself again today?"
Me (smiling): "Again?"
Alex: "Yep."
Me: "I bet you're never going to want to walk with Grandpa again."
Alex: "No, no, no!"
Me: "But you didn't want to walk with me Friday."
Alex: "Nope."
Me: "And you don't want to walk with me today.."
Alex: "That's right."
Me: "And I bet you won't want to walk with me tomorrow.."
Alex: "Nope."
Me (laughing): "So I bet you'll never want to walk with me again."
Alex (throwing an old man a bone): "Wednesday and Thursday. We can walk together Wednesday and Thursday."
Anybody care to lay any odds on that happening?
So, not needing to stop first at Alex's school, I headed straight to the office in what I've come to regard as my "short morning commute":
Telecommuted: |
3 |
Walked: |
42 |
Drove: |

Did Not Compete: |

I'll know on Wednesday or Thursday whether I'm going to take any "long morning commutes" this week.. or perhaps ever. Stay tuned..
