Inside SharePoint: Integrating Office Applications
WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 integrate seamlessly with desktop applications in the 2007 Microsoft Office system, allowing users to easily collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, calendars, contact information, and more. That’s great for organizations that use Microsoft Office technology to boost information worker productivity, but it doesn’t help organizations with a diverse portfolio of Office applications. But that’s not the end of the story. In this column, Pav Cherny shows you how Microsoft Office applications integrate and communicate with SharePoint, and explores ways you can integrate non-Microsoft applications with SharePoint using the same principles.

Excelent article, I still have one question. This integration works fine with SharePoint document library links, but it seems there is not method available when clicking a file in a document library using the datasheet control view (the view you set in Actions-Edit in Datasheet). It will be great to have this functionallity. Thanks for sharing this valuable information
