Field Notes: Sharing a Split Screen

Microsoft Research India created a program called Split Screen that allows two users to share a monitor while running separate instances of the operating system on each side. The Split Screen program sets up a single PC with two keyboards and two mice, and then adapts Terminal Services to split the monitor down the middle. This means that two people can then run their choice of software independently on each side of the monitor. Read how  Split Screen extends opportunities to more people where resources are limited.

In case you missed it, you’ll also want to see the May installment of Field Notes, which showed how a solution called MultiPoint lets multiple mice (i.e. multiple people) share a single PC.
