All good things...

I have decided to pursue other interests and will no longer be able to maintain this blog. It was a very interesting experience, to say the least. :)

Thank you for your time and all the comments!

Take care,
3oF

P.S.: I'll try to keep the posts around just in case. The blog itself will probably go read-only in a couple of days.

I'm sorry to see you go Hugh. Your posts have been very informative and clear. Could you please give me that reference on XML you mentioned I could read up on? Is there any way to contact you in the future?

Hey grovelli, Thank you for the compliment. I heard that this book is a good XML reference: "Beginning XML", by WROX. I don't have it, so I cannot vouch for it, however. Since this is really a mainstream and even over-discussed topic, it might be worth paying a visit to your local half-price used books shop and pick one that seems readable to you. Or even better, you can also look for some free XML tutorials on the web - I could easily see this as being good enough to get reasonably far along. This allows you to save your money to buy more detailed books if you are interested in some of the advanced topics (XSLT, etc). The XML tutorial from W3C (http://www.w3schools.com/xml/default.asp) is 'ok' (very dry and to-the-point content, which is not necessarily bad), and should be enough if you're familiar with HTML already. This O'Reilly tutorial is a little more reader-friendly: http://www.xml.com/pub/a/98/10/guide0.html. (Mandatory legal intermission: Neither I nor Microsoft endorse, guarantee or give any permission to use/read/copy these books/tutorials). Finally, if you need to contact me in the future, you can use the "EMAIL" link at the top of this blog. take care, 3of5
