【Win2008】 ついに製品開発が完了。入れてみよっか？

ついにその日が来ましたね。Longhornというコードネームが全部製品開発完了になった日がやってきました。

MSDN/TechNet 双方のサブスクリプションでは日本時間の昨晩から既にダウンロードが可能になっています。ただ、順次提供開始となっていますので今はx64版、WAIK、x64用LangPackが提供開始になっている状況です。

エバンジェリストはデモ環境にするために色々とやっています。Windows Server 2003 の時もそうでしたが、2003 vs XPと同じように2008もデスクトップ機能は既定で有効になっていないもの（ワイヤレスは「機能」でインストール要、デスクトップエクスペリエンスも別途「機能」でインストール要 など）があるのでその辺の調整をしないとラップトップでVistaのようにはなりませんので先にお伝えしておきます。また、Hyper-V についてはまだ開発中の機能ですからその点も注意点ですね。現時点ではVista用のIC（Virtual PCやVirtual ServerでVMAdditionと呼ばれていたVM環境用ソフトウェア）がありませんのでクライアントの仮想環境を動かしたい方はひょっとするとVirtual Server の方が現時点では検証環境に適しているかもしれないです。一方、Windows Server 2008 （Windows Server 2003） を Hyper-V 上で動作させる人は操作性の良さを体感いただければと思います。x64も仮想環境で動きますしね。

You can download images from both MSDN/TechNet subscriptions and it seems it was available from midnight Japan time. Also, each portion will be available in order so right now you can get x64 edition, WAIK1.1, Language Pack for x64 for several languages.

Evangelists try out many things to make a demo environment. It was the same with Windows Server 2003, 2003 vs XP situation, with 2008 if you want desktop experience, you'll need to add some features(wireless & desktop experience for starters) manually to make it closer to Vista. You should remind yourself that Hyper-V is still being developed so this is a point you should understand. Right now there is no IC(The VMAddition software for Hyper-V) for client OSs so it might be a better idea if your main task is to use virtualized client OSs to use Virtual Server. On the otherhand, if you're main task is to use virutalized server OSs, you'd better try out the new Hyper-V environment. IMHO, Windows Server 2008 （Windows Server 2003） works really nice and smooth with an addition to availability of x64 OSs. :-)

    Windows Server 2003 (X64)環境潰して、まず英語版インストールしてます。 ふふ、Language Packがどのようになっているか。わくわく。 （すでに、明日いつもより会社へ行くのが遅かった場合は、自宅で電話格闘していると報告済み）
