【Tech･Ed ★ミ】 TechEd IT Forum 2007 in Barcelona
久し振りの Tech・Ed なネタでございます。毎年 米国で行われる本家 Tech・Ed と同じくらい色々な発表が行われるヨーロッパのTech・Ed。今年もバルセロナで行われています。その様子は下記のサイトでご覧ください。

来年 本家も開発者向けとIT Professional向けは期間を分けて行われるようですが、ヨーロッパは二つの冠でここのところはやってきているようです。インフラ指向な方向けの Tech･Ed が IT Forum なわけですね。一方で開発者向けがTechEd Developer。
ついに発表されましたね。。。
Viridian あらため Windows Server Virtualization（WSV）あらため、、、Hyper-V！ 正直言うと、エバンジェリストのチームはRC0以降のビルドも触っていたので役割の名前がこれに変わったことを知っていましたが、実際に発表されるといよいよ来たなという感覚になります。
あと、Windows Server 2008のラインアップと米国ドルでの提供価格が発表されています。

私の領域で言うと、
Windows Web Server 2008 は Hyper-Vを搭載しないものの、その分 Web という仕事をこなすサーバーOSとして全ラインアップの中で最も低価格に設定されています。
System Center 製品ラインアップも SMSの後継である Configuration Manager 2007、仮想環境の普及とともに注目度が急上昇している Virtual Machine Manager 2007、そしてサーバー製品のバックアップも視野に入れた効率的なバックアップソリューションである Data Protection Manager 2007 にフォーカスがあたって紹介されています。

[TechEd] TechEd IT Forum 2007 in Barcelona
It's been a while since I wrote the last blog regarding TechEd. Every year, along with the original event in the U.S. there is a big TechEd in Europe where there are always big announcements. It's held in Barcelona this week. Check out the IT Forum web site below.

Next year, it seems that TechEd US will also have two separated events for Developer & IT Pros. The TechEd in Europe has done this for quite a while now. The part for IT Pro is IT Forum and the part for Developer is TechEd Developer.
Well, well, well ... it's announced.
"Viridian" changed to "Windows Server Virtualization(WSV)" and finally "Hyper-V"！ To be totally honest, evangelists knew this name in the early stage because we can access the daily changing builds. But seeing the name actually announced, we are pretty excited!
Also the Windows Server 2008 product line and the retail price in US dollars were announced.

From my area of expertise,
Windows Web Server 2008 won't have Hyper-V inside but as a special edition made specifically for web workloads, it is priced the lowest in the whole price list. This is cool!
We can't forget about the System Center product line too. The successor of SMS: Configuration Manager 2007, as virtualization is really focused these days everyone is looking into what Virtual Machine Manager 2007 can do, and lastly the total data protection & backup solution: Data Protection Manager 2007! These products are focused very much in the event along with the three major launch products, the 2008 brothers...
