My Hockey Team - Gang Green
I realize now I haven’t blogged a thing about my hockey team! About two months ago I enrolled in a 10 class / 5 week “learn to play” ice hockey course. It was great! I played a season of roller hockey in high-school, but have always wanted to try ice. It’s a lot harder to skate on ice and I’m still working on getting that hockey stop, but dang it is fast and a lot of fun! I’ve lost 18 lbs in the last two months playing hockey and eating a little smarter.
So after the class, teams were formed and I became captain of the Gang Green team! We have a website, https://ganggreen.org. We are an adult beginners team. We practice weekly so we’re getting better. We have had about five games so far, and we play our biggest rival tomorrow (Sunday).
Our team between periods talking strategy…
Now this is a funny pic! This is what made me think, “I’ve got to blog this!”. Remember, we’re a BEGINNERs team, hence there is a lot of running into people and falling down. But hey, we take it very seriously, play hard, and have a good time.
We all fall down…
That’s two of the opposing team down, one of ours down, and I’m skating in the middle for the shot…

Looks like a lot of fun.
I've been playing at our university (in Hasselt, Belgium) for fun. But that's nothing professional. We're not even using any gear, just skates and a stick.
Too bad that there is not enough support in Belgium to create an amateur team :(Anonymous

Gert,
No gear? Wow. Is it an official school team? Do you'll still play rough? One of my favorite parts of hockey is the feeling of invincibility with all that protection. You can skate hard, run into walls, flip over people, etc.Anonymous

Playing ice hockey was always a dream for me, coming from Texas and having played a little roller hockey. Anonymous
