Keeping Up With Microsoft News
"How do you keep up with what's going on at Microsoft?" a student recently asked me. Good question! So I told him I'd do a little post on it...
Probably the best way is through either prolific MS bloggers, 3rd party bloggers, or news sources. I find many people outside the company tend to know more than employees simply because they do plenty of reading. Here's what I use for general MS news. What sources do you use?
1st steps is just to get yourself a good RSS reader, like Internet Explorer 7's RSS Reader, RSS Bandit, or Google Reader (what I use) then subscribe to some of these feeds:
- Scott Guthrie
- Scott Hanselman
- Seattle Times on Microsoft
- CNET on Microsoft
- Mini-Microsoft
- All about Microsoft by Mary-Jo Foley
- Microsoft Watch
I find a nice mix of sources helps balance out perspectives. If you're looking for general news about our field, check out the tech feeds on CNET, Jeff Atwood, USA Today, MSNBC, FoxNews, Google, etc. For news on specific topics, of course there are plenty of blogs out there on every topic imaginable.

It's a nice thing to see a Microsofter (or someone else for that matter) admiting using competing tools instead of making some propaganda about something that one doesn't use. Thank you for those links, i didn't have any. May i suggest the MSDN and Technet blogs RSS (main)? With those RSS i have news from several technologies.
