Good morning and a lot thanks for all this precious SMO information.

Do you have an idea if Microsoft will release some new tools in coming SQL Server 2005 patches?
    By new tools we mean:
    - Read TLog
    - Compare databases schema
    - Compare databases data

Will Microsoft let third party companies still develop such tools or because the need for adding various functionality and competition will force Microsoft release such tools and in same time drive the third party companies (partners) out of the market

Thank you for having time to answer or point me to the right place

Is there any URL where Microsoft lists the upcoming SQL Server tools / features?

Sorry for letting you wait this long for my answer. All of these areas have our attention. There are indeed excellent 3rd party products out there that perform functions like this. We love our parners and we hope that they continue to add great value to the Microsoft products. With regard to future plans, I cannot comment. I would say keep your eyes out on the blogs, newsgroups etc.

    Kind regards,

    Michiel

Thank you for the great resource.

By the way, SMO Samples link(http://blogs.msdn.com/mwories/articles/category/11245.aspx) seems to be broken though.

Would you be able to update the link for us?

I noticed on the forums a place to discuss questions, but what about a place to share cool applications and usages of SMO.  I have seen alot of discussion on back up/restore functions in relation to SMO but little discussion of other applications.  It would be interesting to have a place to share interesting usages of SMO such as my article here:  http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/DataTableToDataBase.asp. Sorry to plug, beside Hayden, it seems little is being disused in cool usages for SMO. AAron
