Devices Profile for Web Services Released

At WinHec today Microsoft announced the publication of the Devices Profile for Web Services. This profile outlines a set of Web service specifications and contraints within those specifications that define a core set of Web service functionality that compliant devices would follow.  The fundamental vision is a core set of capabilities using Web services that provide security, discoverability, addressing, eventing, and more.

The idea of a network device implementing this profile makes me giddy with the possibilities - and with Indigo how easy it will be to write applications that communicate with the device.
