Surface with Windows 8 Pro - Pricing Announced!

Today, the Surface team announced pricing for Surface with Windows 8 Pro as follows:

• $899 for the 64GB version
• $999 for the 128GB version

Both versions will be offered with a Surface Pen with Palm Block technology and either a touch cover or type cover (sold separately).  

Spec's for the Surface with Windows 8 Pro include ...

• 3rd gen Intel Core i5 processor - runs both Windows 8-style Apps and traditional Windows 7 applications
• 4GB RAM
• 10.6" 16:9 1920x1080 Full HD ClearType Display with 10-point multi-touch ( with ability to drive external video resolutions of up to 2560X1440 )
• Dual front and rear facing 720p cameras
• Dimensions: 10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53in (less than 14mm thick!)
• Weight: 2lbs
• VaporMg casing
• Dual 2x2 MIMO Wifi Antennas
• Full-size USB and Micro SD card slot

  Hi Chris, In comparison to an iPad consumer device, please check out Surface for Windows RT at www.microsoft.com/.../home. Surface with Windows 8 Pro is a real business PC that can do heavy-duty work, just like a full laptop or desktop, in addition to being a great consumption device.  As a result, it's pricing is comparable to what you find for business ultrabook type devices.   Hi Zwen, The Surface with Windows 8 Pro is really comparable to an Ultrabook - in a very sleek slate form factor.  If you compare the hardware specs (processor, memory, storage, etc), it shouldn't be a surprise that the pricing is close to a traditional Ultrabook because the hardware spec's are very similar - to provide the convenience of a consumer device form factor with the power, security, management and expandability needed in a business PC.   You got to be kidding.  By the time I get the Surface and the keyboard, etc.. I might as well get a Dell Ultrabook or other laptop.

  It really is funny to see people talking about the price (but the keyboard should really be included). People have been saying for years, "Yea the ipad is nice, but I need to do real work on a tablet". Well, here it is, the 1st tablet with a real enterprise OS. Yes it costs more than the iPad, but then it's not really a "pad" now, is it?

  Well, if you look at any tablet pc out right now (one with a pen...that alone has incredible value) and this is incredible.  There hasn't been any specs on the cpu speed, but I'll be ordering one as soon as it is available.  Also, there are very few 10" tablets with a full 1080p screen.   This is fairly impressive for what you'd pay for a comparable tablet pc.
