CMAP GiveCamp

IMPORTANT NOTE: I will soon be moving my blog to my devhammer.net domain from its current home on blogs.msdn.com. If you typically access my blog by visiting https://devhammer.net , you can continue to do so, and it will work fine after the transition. If you subscribe to my RSS feed using https://blogs.msdn.com/b/gduthie/rss.aspx , please update your feedreader to point to https://feeds.devhammer.net/devhammer , which is the new (and permanent) location for my blog RSS feed. Sorry for any inconvenience during the transition, which should take place in the next week or two.

The folks at the Central Maryland Association of .NET Professionals have announced that they will hold their first GiveCamp event, October 21st-23rd, 2011. They’re also going to do some pre-planning with the non-profits and charities who will participate, with a Business Analysis day on June 4th, 2011.

For folks who’ve never experienced a GiveCamp event, it’s three days of intense coding and teamwork to help local non-profit and charity organizations that are in need of some development skills to better fulfill their missions. GiveCampers work in teams to assist their assigned organization with a given task, such as building a basic website (often using a CMS such as SiteFinity or DotNetNuke), or updating an existing site with additional functionality.

If you would like to get involved in the CMAP GiveCamp this October, you can find more information for volunteers here.
