CRM 2011 Online Web Resource Utility

When you try to connect to your CRM Online organization with the SDK tool “Web Resource Utility”, this may fail with exception:

“Could not load file or assembly ‘Microsoft.IdentityModel, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35’ or one of its dependencies.

The system cannot find the file specified. Please fix the Connection information and try again”

Cause

One of the prerequisites is not met. To use Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Online via the Web Resource Utility, you must install Windows Identity Foundation first.

Resolution

Install the Windows Identity Foundation before using Web Resource Utility. Setup can be found here:

    this Windows Identity Foundation does only work for Vista and windows 7. Do you know what to do if you use Win XP? thx
