Obligatory self introduction

This being my first official blog post, I must do the obligatory self introduction.  Since this blog is posted on msdn, I’ll focus the self introduction to technical professional information.

Who is Ed Hintz and Why Should I Care What He Thinks?

Good question (and one my kids ask daily :))I am currently the Development Lead for the Team Foundation Version Control Client team (bloggers on my team: James Manning, Buck Hodges, Tim Noonan, John Morris).  I have 20 years of software development experience, the majority of it spent on tools for developers.  I’ve worked for IBM, NCR, Pioneer/Q+E, SAS, HAHT, GadgetSpace, Avesair, SlickEdit, and now Microsoft.  I’ve developed software for displays on nuclear attack submarines (How many out there can say they have written software that has run under the Artic ice caps? Gives a new meaning to code freeze), coauthor of the first web application debugger (HahtSite), mobile phone app development environment used to develop EBay’s mobile bidding app (at GadgetSpace), and written an award winning Eclipse Plug-in.

Because I have been fortunate enough to work on many cool products with extremely talented people under a variety of conditions, I believe have interesting things to blog.  But, you can judge for yourself.

What will Ed be blogging about?

I will be blogging about lessons I’ve learned and that I am learning, people that have influenced me, development styles, myths, legends, user interfaces, code snippets, Team Foundation Version Control, and whatever else moves me…..it is after all, my blog.
