Performance Testing Guidance
JD Meier, a Program Manager in the Patterns and Practices Group, let me know about a new set of guidance his team is coming out with. We are finally starting to cofidfy how performance testing should be conducted. I remember way back in the late 90's when testing Web applications was a black art, that was only practiced in huge labs set aside for big E-Commerce companies. Those labs used to cost $50K a week or more. With the advent of relatively cheap hardware and a much better understanding of how scaling a performance test works, perf testing web sites has really come to the masses.
