Edmonton Rules! - Fall Tour Day 3
Hey all..
I was really impressed with the level of reponse from everyone at the Edmonton presentations. I only hope the rest of the cities can live up to the welcome I have had from you all. Certainly I am looking forward to returning very soon..
I did get loads of feedback from you about the Security Risk Management presentation.. Very interesting. Even with the different approach to interraction with you all (you asked many more questions than Calgary) I get the impression it was still a little heavy.. Let me know what you think so I can make sure I get it right next time.
On a really positive note, I did enjoy talking to you all and we seem to have quite a number fo people who are really interested in the User Group ideas.. Let me know if you are one of thise people as I would really like to get the ball rolling..
Please keep coming with your feedback, and whilst I am still on tour for the next 2 weeks, I will endevour to get back to you all and answer the questions. If you think of any other feel free to post the here.

I was very happy with the presentation yesterday, as this was my first Microsoft Event, I think it's a great way to collaborate and meet other pros who like me love technology and Microsoft products - I'm interested in joining the User Group when it gets started and as I've recently moved to Edmonton to work as a support specialist for Windows XP, this a great way to keep in touch with other pros in the city.

Security Risk Management presentation was great! In addition to technology, I deal with the business end of our organization, including insurance and risk management, so I found the information timely and pertinent. From my point of view it wasn't too heavy, it was insightful and offered a new perspective for analyzing risk. - Anonymous

Attending the Edmonton presentation, I managed to meet up with one of my counter parts from days gone by. By the end of the presentation, we were both duely impressed with the subject matter and the way it came across, and we found ourselves commenting that we had both taken more notes at this sitting than at any other we had attended. Lots and lots of real good stuff. I would still like to get a copy to the pp files, it would give me access to some of the URLs that I know I missed and point me in yet more good directions.

I'm glad that some other folks added to this blog, I was begining to think that would be the only one on here who responded. Anyway, I hope that the Edmonton User Group gets started, I'm looking forward to being part of it, whenever it happens! What do the rest of you guys think? - Anonymous

One question though, during the Security Risk Management section, you mentioned a script for auditing/harvesting passwords on a system. Even though you repeated the name several times, I did not catch it at the time. Could you give us the name again, for those of us stuborn individuals? Thanx again, - Anonymous

I am really glad you found the presentations useful..
I will be building a list in the Articles section of this blog with this info in, but the utility I was talking about for password auditing is L0phtcrack: http://www.atstake.com/products/lc/
Please be aware that this and other tools can be used for password auditing as well cracking of passwords for unauthorised access. I would also like to hear from anyone with other suggestions for good tools.
