Questions about templates

I have saved a file as a template (dotx), but when I want to select a template from the local template to create a new one, I find that my word does not have the option of "select template from the local machine". What is the reason.

What version of Office did you use?

I suggest you open Word- and go to File- Options- check the Default personal templates location:

Then you can get the template from New- Personal tab:
