UTalkMarketing - Microsoft’s new browser could harm Google’s ad model
Saw this article on an external website. It comments on Microsoft's launch of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2, which was announced last week. The article raises the question as to whether this new web browser might affect / harm Google's advertising model...
Microsoft has launched a new web browser that will allow users access to websites without disclosing their browsing habits - a feature that could affect the advertising model of search rival Google.
The Internet Explorer 8 browser’s InPrivate setting lets users access websites without disclosing their browsing habits, which websites need to be able to do to deliver targeted advertising, which is a business Google has just moved into following its acquisition of DoubleClick.
The feature also hides the browsing history from other people using the same computer. While other browsers have similar options, it is in a much more prominent position on Microsoft’s product.
