HTG Peer Groups
I just wanted to make you aware of and comment on Vijay’s post around the HTG groups and their presence coming over to the UK.
As Vijay pointed out, Microsoft has announced Online Peer Groups for active Small Business Specialist partners that took the Windows SBS 70-282 exam. Please visit Vijay’s blog for more information on this and of course if this if it is something that interests you and will benefit your business do nominate yourself.
Alongside this, HTG are also looking to bring their HTG Groups to the UK, with Dave Sobel of Evolvetech flying into the UK to facilitate these meetings.
What is an HTG peer group?
An HTG peer group is a group of 6-12 like-minded IT company leaders who meet quarterly in a non-competitive environment to network and discuss issues specific to each member’s concerns as a company owner, president or manager.
HTG peer group value proposition?
The HTG peer group experience is a unique forum for technology industry resellers who are serious about implementing a model for success in their own businesses through sharing and collaboration of best practices.

On Friday afternoon Dave Sobel and I had a long conversation around HTG peer groups and whether or not this would be something Microsoft UK would want to promote out to SBSC partners.
So, what are my thoughts on this in relation to the UK SBSC? ...
Whilst I think this is really great stuff that Dave and his colleagues are embarking on in the UK, and we have heard from partners in the US that have seen huge value from this activity, I am currently reluctant to really push this out to our SBSC in the UK at this point in time. My reasoning for this has very little to do with the concept of the groups themselves, nor around what they aim to achieve. In fact, my reluctance is around the current state of our SBSC in relation to community engagement and your current feeling of general satisfaction. From reading the discussion forums that some SBSC partners participate in, I am getting the message loud and clear that there is work to do in order to reignite a feeling of community amongst SBSC partners. I therefore think it is important that we work together to begin addressing these issues and building that community feeling before Microsoft UK embarks on actively encouraging you to sign up to participate in other new communities.
