Preparing for daylight saving time changes in 2007
In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act, which changes the dates of both the start and end of daylight saving time (DST). When this law goes into effect in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than what had traditionally occurred.

Collaboration Data Objects, version 1.2.1
CDO 1.2.1 (Collaboration Data Objects, version 1.2.1) is a package providing access to Outlook-compatible objects through a COM-based API. Using CDO, a program can connect to a MAPI store, and then perform operations against that store, including creating and processing calendar items, and resolving and handling mail recipients. Starting with Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007, Microsoft will distribute CDO 1.2.1 as a Web download, separated from the two products.

Use Jetstress to verify the performance and stability of a disk subsystem prior to putting an Exchange server into production. Jetstress helps verify disk performance by simulating Exchange disk Input/Output (I/O) load. Specifically, Jetstress simulates the Exchange database and log file loads produced by a specific number of users. You use Performance Monitor, Event Viewer, and ESEUTIL in conjunction with Jetstress to verify that your disk subsystem meets or exceeds the performance criteria you establish. After a successful completion of the Jetstress Disk Performance and Stress Tests in a non-production environment, you will have ensured that your Exchange disk subsystem is adequately sized (in terms of performance criteria you establish) for the user count and user profiles you have established. Microsoft Junk E-mail Reporting Tool version 1.1 for Microsoft Office Outlook®
The Junk E-mail Reporting Tool submits e-mail to Microsoft when you explicitly choose to do so. If you receive a junk e-mail and want to report it to us for analysis, first select the e-mail in Outlook and then click the junk e-mail button on your tool bar. You will see a pop-up window asking whether you want to report the selected e-mail to Microsoft and its affiliates. When you click “Yes” to confirm that you’d like to report the selected e-mail as junk e-mail, the junk e-mail will be deleted from your Inbox and sent to FrontBridge, a Microsoft company, for analysis to help us improve the effectiveness of our junk e-mail filtering technologies.

This update is required if the Offline Address Book (OAB) generation is moved from an Exchange 2007 server to an Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) server. It resolves issues which are caused due to changes in the OAB version 4 in Exchange 2007.

Starting in the spring of 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November).

In this session, we look at the Edge Transport server role in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. We begin by exploring the process for implementing an Edge Transport server role and by discussing EdgeSync, a service that provides data replication and synchronization between Active Directory and Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) for a subscribed Edge Transport server. From there, we examine the Internet message delivery, describe how it works, and demonstrate how to configure Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) connectors. We conclude with a discussion of security concerns associated with using SMTP e-mail and illustrate the options you have for securing SMTP e-mail.
