Smart Tags, WordML, and a serious accident

Briefly, I was in a serious collision with a truck while training on my Trek 5200. I have some broken bones, and I am just now starting to get a little bit of mobility. This is why I have not been blogging or doing much else. I apologize for the hiatus.

I thought I would come back with some WordML, smart tags, and a photo of my damaged wheel.

When you save Word 2003 documents in XML format, the articulated XML can convey any smart tag-recognized words you have in the document. Figure 1 shows my document which has a few of the terms for my accident already recognized.

OK- These terms are recognized because they are part of a smart tag list file. I will dive into that detail tomorrow, and I am pretty sure I will be up for it.

Now, when we look at the XML elements in the documents (we will look at just one piece for a term), it looks like this:

Here, you can see the word marked up as a smart tag is accurately conveyed in the XML. How did Word know to make it an "accident" element? Because it is in my namespace for the smart tag, and this namespace is specified at the top of the document. More on that tomorrow.

When you execute the action for the word, it links you to a report of the accident. In this case, it links to a photo of the front wheel on my bicycle:
