Blog Promotion

Apart from making sure you have great content, and telling everyone you know about your blog, what strategies do you use to make sure people are reading your blog?  Starting this FY I want to start getting more involved in blogging, and want to make sure that it is as successful as it can be.  Post your suggestions here -

• What would you like to see content-wise on this blog?

  A successful blog is one that is active.  Not having any posts for a while will cause a loss in subscribers.  Also having relavent content for the industry.  You got the inside to MS, so I bet you will have interested readers. Content-wise, I'd like to read about the new technologies coming out of MS and also about events in the area. Promotion is best done via Digg or other popular central sites.  You can digg your own posts to get them out there.  This will give you the exposure you need to get readers to subscribe to your site.   I agree with Jason about what most people would like to see on your blog.  It can also useful to write posts that encourage feedback (like this one).  I use a statistics program to track which posts people are viewing since the majority of my readers have never left a single comment on my blog.

  Sorry about the comment issues - I missed a configuration setting and it required anonymous comments to be approved.  That should be fixed now, so hopefully all comments will be published automaticallly... Thanks everyone, and keep those great comments coming!
