Revolutionary Eye of the Invincible Tiger

Young grasshopper, do you know the way of the legendary Han Tao? No? Well, you better learn it quick. Namco Bandai Games and Blitz Arcade released the amazing Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao a couple of months ago on Xbox LIVE Arcade, and if you haven’t downloaded the trial and practiced your kung fu moves, now is the time to do so.

It’s a loving homage to kung fu movies and fighter games, and fans of both will find a lot to please them here. Single-player and co-op multiplayer modes include story, endurance, and time trial. Once you’re in the story, the gameplay mechanics have a lot of intriguing features, more than just the usual combo attacks and power hits. You can capture Evil Souls from certain enemies which regenerates your health, or you can stash those souls in Dragon Idols to unleash even more power. Yeah, weird, but fun. There’s also things like Hyperstate mode, animal vitality, interactive on-screen objects, and a cool way to find out more about your enemies. As you defeat them, you unlock information about them in the Book of Knowledge. One of the special features I like is to press the Left Trigger to get a much larger view of the battlefield.

So what’s so revolutionary? The game’s use of 3-D imagery. Practically every Gamer Spotlight we run here talks about how cool 3-D gaming will be, and while we all wait for a Star Trek Holodeck-like experience, Blitz and Namco just went ahead and made the game using current 3-D technology. Of course, the game is fully playable in normal 2-D default mode. But you can also change the graphics to Anaglyph 3-D, get yourself a pair of the cheapo 3-D glasses, and go “ooo” and “aaahhh” as the in-game characters go “oof” and “ouch.” Even better, if you have a compatible 3-D ready TV, you can get full digital 3-D. There are also lots of customizable 3-D options with stereo strength, depth bias, color manipulation, and the like. It’s a truly unique experience and it’ll give you a reason to check out those features on your TV. The Invincible Tiger support page has complete details. Now don your black belt, download the trial, and become the invincible tiger.
