An Evening at 550
The Friday festivities at PAX were capped off with a trip to Bungie Studios this evening, where a select group of fans were given an intimate hands-on preview of Halo 3 ODST.
We signed the traditional NDAs (I believe I hold the Bungie NDA record now), and were ushered through the building into a back room full of consoles, TVs and darkness. The path to this room was carved out by curtains lining the work areas that we weren’t allowed to see, presumably due to secret projects being worked on by top men.
Intensity.
Once we sat down, the action began as we plunged into ODST’s headline gametype, Firefight. We split off into groups of four and played through a few of the maps, none of us more than scratching the surface of the depths of Firefight.
As the night progressed some groups made it to the final wave in the final round but I don’t think anybody made it past the third round, but I wasn’t monitoring everyone so it’s fully possible. The group I ended up playing with made it to the last wave of the third round but the chieftains took us the heck out.
A great night, all in all, with the pictures to prove it:
All comers to Bungie Studios are greeted by Private O’Connor.
No more shields, go find a health pack.
Bungie didn’t skimp on the Pizza. And hello Kari.
Serious business Firefight.
A little campaign action going down. OMG SPOILZ.
Shishka died!
