x64 Vista Feb CTP - A trunk full of bits.
I was so excited when I received the Feb CTP build of Windows Vista that I could not resist to scratch the harddisk of my Acer Ferrari 4000 (kindly provided for testing by AMD). In the past I made several attempts to install either versions 32-bit and 64-bit (x64) of Vista but I had no real luck. Most of the it didn't really work or the installation broke. What a difference this time.
I started the setup around 3pm yesterday, completely forgetting about my promise to be at home around 4pm for an early dinner. At around 3:30pm I realized that I would not be able to keep my promise if I stayed and watched the install to finish. But you know how it is, being late for dinner ... definitely a No-No. Especially if it is the 3rd time in the last 4 weeks. So I packed my stuff, leaving the laptop running on battery. I then stuffed the notebook into the trunk of my car, using a Targus power converter to keep the install going. Of course I was late for dinner but only because I stop for flowers ;-). Oh, and the installation went smooth and finished successfully. I guess this is my first in-trunk 64-bit OS installation. Now that I am prepared to play with the Feb CTP x64 Vista build, let's do some further investigation.
