Now you can, with the help of Cherry OS, let loose a “Panther” on your Windows desktop (thanks virtualization.info for the news).

 

Still don’t get why you would do that. Maybe smooth migration to Windows J.

 

One of the main reasons (if not the main reason) for running an Apple OS is the cool and really stylish devices Apple sells its OS on. Spotted in many TV shows and movie pictures all over the world, the Apple gear has what most Microsoft hardware partners are still working on: design beyond “form follows function”. I loved all desktops and laptops I worked on over the years (all none Apple) but I never had one I loved for its design AND performance and features. Now, even if I wanted to run Apple software, I can do it on my xxx laptop. Sad.

  Well, you technically could "let the Panther loose" that even before CherryOS, by using PearPC, whose code was quite obviously used without respecting its license by CherryOS.
  The only problem is that it's both illegal and immoral for you to do so, since the license for Apple's OS pretty much states that you're only allowed to run it on Apple hardware, and you'd do that on a piece of code infringing upon other people's intellectual property. And that would be very much not nice, especially for an employee of such a successful company as Microsoft.

  Thanks for the hint about PearPC, an Open Source project. As you can imagine from my blog, I would never run CherryOS on Windows or encourage to do so.
  My comment was about
  1) The grey boxes most of us use today compared to Apple's well designed systems and
  2) the aspect of virtualization.
