Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate on Windows 8 Consumer Preview
A word of warning - If, like me, you thought:
“I haven’t got time to upgrade my Windows 8 version but I’ll quickly upgrade Visual Studio 11 Beta to Visual Studio 2012 RC”
Then hold on, don’t uninstall VS 11 Beta just yet!
If you take a look at the system requirements for the Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate they show that the version of Windows 8 required is the Release Preview not the Consumer Preview.
If you attempt to install on Windows 8 Consumer Preview you will get the error message:
Setup blocked. The .Net Framework installed on this machine does not meet the minimum required version: 4.5.50501.
