WPF in Three Dimensions

The WPF 3D team have just started a new team blog (covering the 3D APIs in WPF, obviously). These guys have done an amazing job over a very short space of time. For a long while, WPF didn't have any support for 3D at all (it wasn't in the original PDC builds, for instance), and even after it was added, I remember a time when there were some discussions about whether to pull it from v1 in order to focus more resources on parts of the API that were considered more "core". Fortunately, it stayed in, since almost all of the most exciting customer projects I've been involved with have incorporated 3D in some shape or another and there's clearly a lot of interest in the creative opportunities introduced by 3D support.

I'm really writing to give you a heads-up of an exciting announcement that they'll be making on their blog tomorrow. Ernie Booth and Karsten Januszewski also filmed a Channel 9 video with the team that will go live simultaneously; check back on their blog early afternoon Pacific time for details. I'm not saying any more - my lips are sealed - but you'll like it :)

    MS have got its act together in case of WPF. But please ask the customers for feedback regarding the next version..we have lots of great ideas.

    "someone", that's a marvelous idea. We've been thinking of ways to solicit feedback for the next release of WPF - what would be the best route? An online chat? An email address for suggestions? There's always mswish@microsoft.com, which is a generalized email address for sending feature requests, but I'm guessing you might be after something else. Help me help you help me! Tim

    I think the current feedback system works OK, only it's rare that requests get any votes.  Maybe you should have a little web page that displays the top 20 or so requests so that you can vote on them.  I always liked the 'spend the virtual $1000' that's used in the SDRs and DevLabs to spread across features. Think of it as the equivalent of Digg but for feature requests.  You could even make it an XBAP! So - is it early afternoon yet?
