Learn Avalon by Watching a Channel 9 Screencast!

A few weeks ago, I started to build what will hopefully grow into a larger library of screencasts covering Windows Presentation Foundation ("Avalon"). The first two have just been posted on Channel 9.

Screencasts are short pre-recorded videos that aim to show succinctly how you can build cool stuff using Avalon. They start with an introductory slide to cover the concept and then dive straight in to a fast-paced demo.

Introduction to XAML demonstrates how you can embed all kinds of content in XAML and integrate them together.

Data Binding in Windows Presentation Foundation shows you how to build an RSS browser in just 14 lines of XAML using the data binding features present in Avalon.

I'm pretty proud of these, and I hope to produce more if feedback is positive. Let me know what you think!

No it’s not the Video Professor, it’s Tim Sneath, who has two new screencasts up on Channel 9

Excellent videos! This is what was really missing; we had the WinFX SDKs, lot of really cool Channel9 demos, great blogs, but not really a step-by-step tutorials on the basic concepts in Avalon.

It's really helpful for someone like me who is just starting to code in .NET and take on the WinFX train.

Please do post more of these (and if time permits, regularly :-) ). Also it would be nice if you can post the actual XAML code as well. For the first 2 videos it seemed okay without the code (not much there), but I suspect for the later screencasts it might get difficult to actually play with this locally in XAMLPad or VS.

    Thanks!

Great job! Keep doing them! I would really want to see a video about how to do C# programming against the items, that you do in the XAML code. It really confuses me abit.

Tim Sneath produced some webcasts - probably because I asked him for a "total beginner's guide"...
