And you thought C# was COOL...

A great quote from one of the customers I'm working with who are building for Avalon...

"I do have to say that with our initial SVG development, we were trying to do one cool thing a week. With Avalon, we are doing one to three cool things a day!"

I don't know whether "rate of coolness" is a useful programming metric, but I'm in awe of how much some of our customers are doing today with Avalon even with the somewhat limited support provided by Visual Studio for WinFX right now. Are you doing some active development with Avalon right now? We'd love to find out what you're up to - drop me a line privately...

C#'s code name was Cool if I'm not mistaken... :)

On a separate topic... I'd be interested to hear what Avalon people think about Office's move away from Compound Documents to XML/Zip, given that Avalon's documents technology is supposed to be based on Compound Documents.

Awwwww. I was actually happy when I first read that Avalon would use compound docs--a remnant of COM/Win32 would survive in the WinFX world! But alas it looks like it isn't so :(

Given there is winfx support for "zip compound files" and so on internally afaik, would it be fair to ask a MS defined set of interfaces or abstract classes to provide set of methods to operate on packed files like zip, tar.gz,rar etc. I mean MS already seems to implement the zip support so would that be too much to ask.
