From the Heavens Above to the C# Within
As the week winds down, here a couple of intriguing .NET-related things I've unearthed.
The Heavens Above: Here's a link to an ASP-based astronomy site that, among other things, can visualize in real time where the International Space Station is positioned above the earth, and predict when Iridium satellite “flares” are going to be visible above your location on the ground.
...and The C# Within: SPOT is a tiny, 32-pin chip that runs .NET Embedded, an implementation of a subset of the CLR and .NET Framework! This embedded software platform, the Tiny CLR, “occupies under 132KB of memory, contains enough functionality to be suitable for embedded device applications, and is programmable and debuggable using Visual Studio.NET.”
Incredibly cool. And to think that just two years ago, I thought the fact I could run the Compact Framework on a PocketPC seemed downright "unpossible!"
