.NET Gadgeteer GPS Cat Tracker wins competition at THINK Computer Science
Sawston Village College were the lucky winners of .NET Gadgeteer FEZ Spider Kit at the recent Think Computer Science Event at Duxford, Cambridge.
Richard Coleman a pupil at Sawston Village College won a FEZ Spider Kit for his school by creating a Great Gadgeter Idea.
“A GPS Tracker for you cat that takes a picture every 5-60 seconds you can change the time that the picture is taken. Pictures are saved to a MICROS SD Card on the device and are also uploaded online. Then you can download an app that allows you to track your cat and see what it has been doing. It attaches like a collar and also has automatic lights that keep it safe around roads and turn on in the dark/after 7pm (this can also be customised.)
Sue Sentence PGCE ICT Tutor at Anglia Ruskin University who helped select the winning entry said "We all really liked Richard's idea for a gadget. It showed creativity and imagination and would make use of a variety of .NET Gadgeteer modules. There were lots of other good ideas too but this gadget would be actually achievable with .NET Gadgeteer and showed an understanding of the sort of devices that .NET Gadgeteer could be used for as well as having a very useful function."
