Can you envision smelly email?
An Outlook MVP pointed out this article about a company that has developed technology to allow you to send codes in email that cause a device attached to the recipient's computer to output certain smells.
A couple of great applications of this technology came out of the discussion:
- Smelly spam! Rather than just read about v14gr4, you can smell it... or something. And when you get that tempting offer from Nigeria, they could help sweeten the offer with the smell of money.
- Email administrators, now's your chance to remind your users to never open attachments in a more permanent way - send 'em a stinkbomb.
[full credit due to the Outlook MVPs on this one, they came up with these great ideas and I'm just reposting them :-]

It's an interesting idea. I wonder if it'll gain traction in the market. - Anonymous

I noted that one on my blog too -- it seems like a terrible idea to me. Thankfully I can just not buy the smell generator thing and not have to suffer through this absurd idea. :)
