Download Expression Blend Preview for .NET 4
Today at PDC, we made a few announcements that would be of interest to you! First, Scott Guthrie announced the availability of the Silverlight 4 Beta. This version of Silverlight contains some cool new features that many of you have asked for, so read the What’s New document to get an overview of some of the new features.
To coincide with the release of Silverlight 4 Beta today and the release of Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 a short while ago, we are making a version of Expression Blend available that allows you to work with .NET 4 and Silverlight 4 based projects.
Download it from the following location now:

This release of Expression Blend works well alongside Expression Blend 3, so you can continue to work on your WPF 3.5 and Silverlight 3 based projects at the same time.

Does the Expression Blend Preview for .NET 4 (and VS 2010 Beta) also work side-by-side with the following environment: Expression Blend 2 SP1 and VS 2008 with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1?Anonymous

Agree with above comments. Although new version every year at MIX is great, its lifecycle is way too short for our wallets. Alternate versions should be free upgradesm to allow a decent 2 year life cycle. Windows, Office and Visual Studio have at least a 2-3 year lifecycle.Anonymous

Silverlaw - Blend Preview for .NET 4 should work side-by-side with Blend 2 SP1. (answer courtesy of Pete Blois (http://blois.us)) Kevin / CGomez / expr - thanks for the feedback. I'll try to address this issue in the future when appropriate. Cheers! KirupaAnonymous

Small business worried about cost should consider the Microsoft Action Pack program (https://partner.microsoft.com/40016455 ), or MS Empower (https://partner.microsoft.com/40066412). Individuals should think about taking a class locally so they can get the Academic Pricing. Pat Tormey MS MVP New Hampshire USAAnonymous

It's not a question of working side by side but requiring ISVs to buy a version every year. Imagine if something like Office or Visual Studio came out every year.Anonymous

I think Source Control should be integrated into the product for following versions.Anonymous

I fully agree what's been said ealier. How can we be expected to pay for a whole new version of Expression Studio every 6 months. I bought Expression Studio 3 and my product hasn't even been rolled out yet and I'll have to consider upgrading already. This is rediculous! I suggest MS find a way to install support for new versions of silverlight/wpf straight into existing versions of Blend. I'm already sitting with an unusable Blend V2 and soon Blend V3 aswell. Expecting people to pay for upgrades this frequently will definitely harm the product in the long run and put off developers. I'm already starting to regret going down this path if this is how things are going to carry on in future.Anonymous

Any idea when a Blend preview that works with Visual Studio 2010 RC will be available? It's the one thing that stopping me from upgrading our projects - since we have graphics designers that use Blend 3.Anonymous

Just heard the MIX10 keynote announce that Blend 4 would be a free upgrade (of some kind) for Expression Blend 3 owners. This is great news. It's too bad this wasn't announced much sooner, as my previous comment from November shows I have gone without Blend for months because I knew Silverlight and Blend 4 were coming. Nevertheless, this is good news for current Blend owners and I applaud MSFT for helping their developers move forward at the same lightning fast pace Silverlight is moving at.Anonymous
