Share Your Experience and Review Server & Tools Products

Nothing beats a personal recommendation. For example, last week I needed a reliable HVAC contractor to do some work on my house. Not knowing where to begin my search, I sent out a request to my colleagues asking if they could recommend anyone. To my relief, several people responded--not just with names, but with information about why they were recommending a particular person. To get a good recommendation, I always trust someone who has had experience and can give me the benefit of their first-hand knowledge.

By the same token, when it comes to technology decisions, I trust the IT professionals and developers I know to recommend products they've tried. Giving and getting recommendations from your fellow IT professionals and developers is exactly the idea of this blog. This is your opportunity to tell your peers about your testing (or just playing around) with Windows Server, System Center, SQL Server, and Windows Azure.

Yes, we really want you to express your opinion about Microsoft products!

This is meant to be an informal peer-to-peer conversation about what problem you were looking to solve, what product you tested, what your test environment was, and whether you liked the results or didn't. Would you recommend the product you tested? Tell everyone why or why not. Help someone cut to the chase and save time and effort. Your review can be as short or long as you want it to be. It should just contain enough information that someone who reads it knows you actually tried the product and have a reliable opinion. I'll be happy to send you a template that lists some questions you might want to answer. Basically, just write what you'd like to read.

To get started, go to https://blogs.msdn.com/b/customer_reviews_of_stb_products/archive/2012/08/21/how-do-i-become-a-writer-for-the-customer-reviews-of-stb-products-blog.aspx and follow the steps listed. This will get you access to blog on MSDN and TechNet.

Of course, we will  vet submissions to ensure that they're not spam or malicious. We respect your right to critique our products, but please do so constructively. If technical questions or issues arise during our review, we'll contact you to clarify.

It's exciting to see customers sharing experiences directly with each other, and we're looking forward to learning from you. Please take a few minutes to participate and give your honest feedback to the community.

If you have any questions, please contact me at karenfor@microsoft.com.
