I love Google Suggest. Here is a little experiment:

1) Go to https://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en 
2) Type "msn search"
3) Check out the last suggestion at the bottom... :-)

    Result clustering would be welcome addition to msn search. I wonder when someone comes up with "ZapSearch" where the first HTTP GET returns the top 10 results cached content compressed, would allow for some very instant client side browsing. vivisimo.com has something close to that but it's not cached&compressed = it's too slow.

    MSN search will certainly have a huge number of users who use it by virtue of having the default msn.com homepage. However, it is less useful for 'clued up' users because of its obvious bias on certain topics.

    Searching for 'free software' doesn't bring up the FSF on the first page of results. Searching for 'SCO' doesn't bring up Groklaw on the first page of results. Searching for 'search engine' doesn't being any search engines up on the first page of results.

    You won't get the power users if they can't trust the results. People trust Google - to the point where things like this search are lighthearted and fun. They wouldn't trust Microsoft to have the same transparency. That's just the way it is.

    Searching for the string "free software" (without quotes) brought me the www.gnu.org as the first link in the search. They might have fixed this issue in the meantime...

    You are correct. I'm not familiar with neither SCO and Groklaw sites, but I submitted the feedback to the MSN search team with the "Help us improve" link at the bottom.

    You are (almost) correct. I see only Google in the first page. And MSN search. But Yahoo, Altavista are missing. I submitted this feeback too with the "Help us improve" link.

    My mistake - I meant to say www.fsf.org which is the web site of Free Software Foundation.
