Planning for Ongoing Smart Card Support

It is important to have all of the smart card management processes and policies in place before you distribute the smart cards to your users. Therefore, you need to create a plan for the ongoing use of and support for smart cards in your organization. When creating a smart card management plan, balance the level of security that you require against the need for ease of use and supportability. Figure 16.8 shows the steps for planning for ongoing smart card support.
